Right to work

All employers in the UK are required by the Home Office to carry out simple Right to Work checks before they employ someone, to make sure the individual is not disqualified from carrying out the work in question because of their immigration status.

This means that on or before your first day at work with us, you are required to show us your proof of Right to Work in the UK. As your employer, we are required to verify your documentation either in person or via an online identity service provider.

UK and Ireland Process

For UK and Ireland Right to Work checks, we use the Yoti Identification tool, which is a simple process that requires you to provide a scan of an in-date passport and face for verification.

If your British or Irish passport is expired:

You can present an expired British or Irish passport, which will need to be checked in person. Please get in touch and we can arrange a time for us to meet.

If you only have a passport from another country, you can:

– Use a valid passport from another country that has a stamp or sticker on it saying you have the right of abode

If you don’t have a passport, you will need to show the following two documents:

A document with your name and National Insurance number on it, which must be from the government or your previous employer (for example, a P45).
AND EITHER:
A Birth or adoption certificate, if it’s from a court or register office in the UK, Channel Islands, Isle of Man or Ireland.
A Certificate of registration or naturalisation if you became a British citizen by applying for it.

Outside of the UK and Ireland

If you have either pre-settled or settled status from the EU Settlement Scheme, or indefinite leave to enter or remain in the UK you must:

Provide a Share Code to prove your Right to Work

Show your valid passport by attending an in-person verification before you begin employment so we can complete a visual check
– Contact HR Admin at [email protected] to arrange a time to prove your Right to Work

FAQs

All employers in the UK are required by the Home Office to carry out simple Right to Work checks before they employ someone, to make sure the individual is not disqualified from carrying out the work in question because of their immigration status.

This means that on or before your first day at work with us, you are required to show us your proof of Right to Work in the UK. As your employer, we are required to verify your documentation either in person or via an online identity service provider.

We are required to keep copies of your right-to-work check securely for the duration of your employment and for a further two years after you stop working for us. The file will then be securely destroyed.

If you have a UK or Irish passport and have been directed here, it looks like your Yoti session has timed out. If you were unable to complete your session, please contact us at [email protected], and we can send you a new link.

All right-to-work checks must be completed before you begin your employment. The Yoti link will expire 48 hours after we send it to you. For any in-person checks we will arrange these in the weeks running up to your start date depending on your availability.

After you have completed your check, either on Yoti or in person, and we have also received your signed new joiner documents, we will then have everything we need to set you up on our systems and payroll before you begin.
