Work Experience and Internships

Come and try us on for size

We know that publishing can be a bit of a mystery.

How do we decide what to publish?

How do books get made?

And who tells the world about them?

What we can offer you and how to apply

Work Experience

We have year-round paid work experience slots of two weeks, where you’d be shadowing a team and getting to grips with day-to-day life here. It’s a learning opportunity – a chance to learn about the world of work and go behind the scenes.

Applications for work experience in September-October will open in July. Head over to our work experience page to find out more about our placements and how to apply.

Internships

Our summer internships are currently advertising. They are running from 9th July – 31st August 2018 and paid London Living Wage. Find out more about the placements and how to apply here.

The Scheme

The Scheme is our early career programme. We’ve ten paid Editorial Traineeships on offer, starting in September 2018 for six months, open to applications from a BAME or socio-economically disadvantaged background. It’s a chance to experience life in a publishing house, to find out what editorial work is like and to build the basics you’ll need to start a career in publishing. Details about eligibility and the application are here.

Hints and tips

For work experience: be curious, be yourself.

For internships, the skills will vary depending on the department. Check out our blog for practical tips on applications and interviews as well as meeting some of our ex-interns…
