Training programmes

Bring your skills, make your mark

Whether you’ve always known you want to work with books or want to dip your toe in the water – work alongside the best, behind the scenes of the UK’s biggest publisher.

Our paid training programmes are perfectly positioned to set you up for future success. We’ll teach you everything you need to know about publishing and Penguin. You don’t need to have a degree or any industry experience – just start here.

Work Experience

2 weeks | All year round | Open to all

Start your story with a randomly- selected behind-the-scenes introduction from one of our Editorial, Marketing, Publishing Operations, or Sales teams.

The Scheme

6 months | Autumn | Open to candidates from Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic Groups and Lower Socio-Economic Backgrounds

The Scheme is a place for voices that we want to hear more from in publishing.
Could yours be one of them?

Internships

2 months | Summer | Open to candidates from Lower Socio-Economic Backgrounds

Any plans this summer? You could be supported to own a project as part of our Editorial, Publicity and Sales departments in an internship

Support
via the
Spare Room
Project

The Spare Room Project aims to help, by matching interns and job seekers from outside London with people in the book industry who live in the capital and who can offer them a place to stay. By easing accommodation costs, this enables people to take up internships that would otherwise have been financially difficult. The Project also helps people who have job interviews in London. We have supported the project since 2018.
