We know that publishing can be a bit of a mystery.
How do we decide what to publish?
How do books get made?
And who tells the world about them?
We have year-round paid work experience slots of two weeks, where you’d be shadowing a team and getting to grips with day-to-day life here. It’s a learning opportunity – a chance to learn about the world of work and go behind the scenes.
Head over to our work experience page to find out more about our placements and how to apply.
Our summer internships are now closed. Placements are from July – August and paid London Living Wage. Find out more about the placements and how to apply here.
The Scheme is our early career programme. Our paid Editorial Traineeships start in September for six months and open to applications who are Black, Asian or from ethnic minority backgrounds and / or lower socio-economic backgrounds. It’s a chance to experience life in a publishing house, to find out what editorial work is like and to build the basics you’ll need to start a career in publishing. Details about eligibility and the application are here.
For work experience: be curious, be yourself.
For internships, the skills will vary depending on the department.
Check out our blog for practical tips on applications and interviews as well as meeting some of our ex-interns.
We can also recommend other affordable accommodation if needed or you can get in contact with The Spare Room Project. They match those from outside of London with publishers who can offer them a spare room during their placement.
